Swimming Lesson Academy

Parent & Baby/Toddler Swim Lessons (3 months - 3 Years)

Ages 3 months – 3 years
These sessions involve lots of play, songs and games to help the children learn and build towards swimming independently, happily and safely with mum or with dad. For baby, swimming helps develop strength and coordination aiding their early physical development, and joining in with the baby swimming classes allows them to interact with you, the teacher, and other babies in the fun class environment, which along with the sensory experience of being in the water, helps stimulate baby’s social and psychological development. These sessions also allow the baby to have fun exploring an environment that will feel safe and familiar to them after their time in the womb. Swimming helps to maintain this natural water affinity and develop a water confidence which will stay with them always, throughout childhood and beyond. We also use submersion techniques to help the children feel confident in the water and to reinforce the natural breath holding reflex and learn breath control. During our Parent and Baby swimming classes we also teach the children the key safety skill of entering the water, turn around, and swim back to side by themselves.

Our Parent and Baby/Toddler swimming lessons are divided into three age groups:

3 months to 1 years
Baby will enjoy the freedom of movement and the buoyancy that being in the water provides, whilst bonding with you through skin on skin contact. The signals that accompany the key class activities are first learned here, and you’ll learn how to hold and support baby in the water. Baby’s physical strength develops in the back and neck, and submersion helps reinforce the natural breath holding reflex.

1-2 years
Little ones and toddlers are now jumping in, kicking their legs, blowing bubbles and playing with the toys in the water, as well as swimming short distances unaided underwater. Strength and coordination further improves, and the breath holding reflex develops into breath control.

2-3 years
The children are now learning to swim independently with floatation aids such as woggles and back-floats, as well as doing glides and little swims unaided, and learning to climb out by themselves, in preparation for the preschool classes where they’ll be swimming without mum or dad.

Learn to Swim (3+ Years)

For swimmers who are not consistently swimming 5 – 10 meters on their front and back without buoyancy aids.
Learn to Swim (LTS) sessions will give our younger complete beginners confidence and develop fundamental swimming techniques through structured play and toys. The emphasis will be on water safety and the aim will be to teach them to swim in the deep end without being able to touch the bottom of the pool and to install in them a love for the water without any fear.
The LTS program is divided in to 7 progressive stages and are designed to reward your child for their development of the essential aquatic skills they need to be confident, competent and safe in the water.

Junior Performance / Squad Swim Lessons (19- years)

For the more serious swimmers, training sessions will be up to 75 minutes and up to 6 sessions per week.  Swimmers will be entered in various competitions in and around Dubai. At this level the swimming lessons are less about teaching and more about coaching.

Adult Master Swim Lessons (19+ years)
  • These sessions will offer adults of all abilities the opportunity to learn a new skill or improve on their current ability. We will help you build your confidence and to overcome any fears whilst in the water. Starting with basic instructions, we will help to teach you how to swim. We provide buoyancy aids that will help assist you in the water. Similarly to the Junior LTS program, techniques will be adjusted to fit adult needs.

Come along and try – you’re never too old to learn!

Swim-Fit Sessions (19+ years)

These sessions aim to improve overall health and fitness and thereby improve your quality of life in Dubai. Swimmers need to be of and intermediate level of fitness and swimming ability and usually use these sessions to stay in shape or train for triathlons, aquathlons or open water swim competitions. Swimming Lessons

Private Swimming Lessons: 1 student per lesson

  • Private swimming lessons, provide students with one-on-one interaction time with their instructor.
  • The Instructor works with the student to tailor a lesson plan to fit the student’s skill level and goals.
  • Instructors are able to meet the specific needs of students and adapt when they are working one-on-one.
  • This experience fosters a learning environment in which students excel.
  • Learning new techniques faster because they are given the attention they need to improve their skill set.

Semi-Private Swimming Lessons: 2 or 3 students per lesson

  • These swim lessons are for couples or 2 or 3 swimmers with similar levels who want to improve fast and like a good work out.
  • These sessions are also ideal for kids transitioning from LTS to Stroke Correction.
  • The most significant benefit from these type of lessons are that they allow social interaction and peer modeling so swimmers can learn from each other, motivate each other and potentially make new friends.
  • Another important factor is cost. Cheaper than a Private Swim Lesson, the semi-private lesson still allows the instructor to spend sufficient time with each swimmer to ensure your swim goals are met.

Group Swimming Lessons: Coaching: 4+ students per lesson

  • Group coaching swim lessons allow for a more social interaction between students while learning the respective skill.
  • Swimmers are placed in age and ability appropriate groups to ensure there are no mixed levels so the instructor can spend their time with the whole group and not individuals within the group who are not at the same level as others in the group.
  • Group size will depend on the type of lesson on offer.
  • It is a great way to meet new friends and discuss experiences while working out.
  • Normally the cheapest option for swim lessons with between 4 and 6 swimmers in a group.
Swimming Lesson Payments
  • All payments are in advance and can be paid in cash or by cheque to your respective swim coach before commencing with lessons.
  • Semi-Private and Group Swimming Lessons will be charged for per swim coaching term.
  • Private Swimming Lessons will be charged for in sets of 5.
Swimming Lesson Cancellation Policy
  • In Semi-Private & Group Swimming Lessons, a NO CANCELLATION POLICY will apply. Lessons will be credited for bad weather or if cancelled by your swim coach.
  • In Private Swimming Lessons, one (1) cancellation per set of 5 lessons will be permitted, thereafter lessons will be charged for in full. If lessons are not cancelled, they too will be charged for in full. Students wishing to cancel a lesson must do so 24 hours in advance or the lesson will be charged for.
  • *During peak hours (5pm to 8pm) no Private lessons will be credited.
  • At certain venues, a pool hire fee will be charged for any Private or Semi-Private Swimming Lessons cancelled in full, as pool hire has been paid in advance and is non-refundable at these venues. Your swimming instructor will inform you if this is applicable to your lesson or not.
